MissVampire interview

This is the last writer interview with me, MissVampire. Here's the basics; I've been on Stardoll for 5 years now and writing for our blog for one and a half. I'm 18, bisexual and a huge metal lover. Now off to the interview.

What's your bad habits that you want to stop? - asimeniana
I think my biggest bad habit is that I'm too lazy. I know it's usually a good thing to live in the now and not think about the future too much, but I'm slacking off when I should be studying and spending time with friends when I should be doing something else.

Who is your favorite designer? - XxladyXxgaga
Alexander McQueen. I didn't even like fashion before him, he totally changed the way I look at it. For me, he's the "non-mainstream" part of fashion.

If you could have a super power, what would it be and why? - XxladyXxgaga
I would love to read minds. I find people's minds and their ideas so fascinating. Some of them are sick though and some are so nice, you can never know what's under the surface. I'd also love to see what they really think of me. They wouldn't be able to lie to me then, how cool is that?

What time period in history most interests you? - RoyalRuby7395
I'm interested in the middle ages. I wouldn't live there, but I'm interested because of how the Church got so much power, how horrible their hygiene was, how they believed in witches, which torture devices they used, how they talked, how living in castles was, the inventions back then etc. I'm very interested in Vikings too.

If you could change anything in the world, what would you change? - misslolapink10
That's easy. I would erase all religions. I would stop people from believing in god(s) and make them think on their own. It's the only thing that I'm not open-minded about and think it's totally ridiculous.

What is your favorite place in the world and why? - Juliette
I've been to 9 countries so far, but I've never visited my favorite one, Finland. Why Finland? They have more than 185 thousand lakes with more than 175 islands on them, it's 75% covered with forests (talk about beautiful landscapes), the people are so nice, they have great music, there's so much snow, there's the northern lights, the polar nights and so much more. I feel like a Finland commercial now :P

What is your favorite band? - Juliette
Ensiferum, definitely. They've been my favorite band ever since I started listening to metal, which is 5 years ago or so. I think they'll stay my favorite, too. *loyalty* It pisses me off how some people e.g. claim Slipknot are their favorite band one day and Hannah Montana the next.

What's your biggest fear and why? - JanyRichter6
My biggest is the fear of drowning. I don't know why, but running out of air sounds like the worst way to go.

If you could go out for dinner with anyone, who would it be and why? - dood0609
I know this is gonna sound cheesy, but I'd choose my boyfriend. We've never actually been out for a real dinner so I think it would be nice.

Do you dress similarly in real life and on Stardoll? - Serendibite
There are definitely similarities. I love wearing super short shorts/skirts. I wear fishnets, too and I almost never wear long sleeves. I always wear at least one black piece combined with another color. I also use spiked bracelets, belts etc. as accessories + I have a tongue, belly button and 17 ear piercings. As for differences, I never wear knee-high boots, dresses or dye my hair. I like band shirts, too. To give you guys an example, here's a photo of me (on the right) and my friends wearing my clothes (the shoes aren't mine):

What is your favorite quotation? - Rubyluvv269
"Life is like taking a crap. It can take a long time or it can be short, it can be painful or it can feel good, but either way it gets flushed away in a moment in the end."

I know these photos suck, but I didn't know which ones to put up:

Heavy Metal Lamp

There is nothing to write about lately. Nothing interesting that is. So I bought and wrote about this lovely piece right away. I really dislike the name, which is Heavy Metal Lamp (sounds kind of ridiculous since electric guitars aren't used only in heavy metal), but the price is 70 starcoins, so it's cheap and non-superstar. You can find it in the suite shop in the new Kitsch collection. Photo:

The real life version is made by JC de Castelbajac (I dare you to try reading that). He usually designs clothes, but there's a collection of his on Acrila. The other pieces in the collection aren't as interesting though. And here's the two resembling guitar lights:

Creative User

We've posted about dzastaa16 before. She was the creator of the Joker reproduction but now she renovated her page and it really amazed me so I thought she deserved a second mention. Her 2 new rooms where constructed upside down with some beautiful dark elements, creating a very original suite:

Apart from the rooms, she also created a gorgeous outfit, incorporating a bunch of ravens:

I personally loved it! If you feel the same, leave her a comment and a vote, she certainly deserves it.

Here's another anarchization post for your fun. You all probably know Keira-v right? She's Stardoll-famous, probably because of her cutesy designs. But I really, really dislike her style. She was asking for it:

Sea of Stars

Sea of Stars is the new Stardoll online book. Similar to Mortal Kiss, we'll also get inspired clothing lines, contests and items on Suite Shop. The first chapter is already available and you can read it by clicking here.

I haven't read it and I honestly don't intend to, so I can't tell you what's the story all about.

Along with this new feature, we got a new store on the Starplaza. You can find clothing pieces and some nice decoration items but some of the prices are a little bit high:

Has anyone read the book? Bought anything from the store?

Harry Potter COMPETITION

I think it's time for another competition, don't you? The competitions aren't monthly any more because Stardoll raised the price from the minimum 1,99€ to 4,49€ and we just can't afford it any more. I will still be making competitions at random times, just not as often.

Be sure that even though you look like a witch/wizard, we can still see your personal and preferably dark style. For some extra items, check out HoupIsOnFire's blog here, here and here. For inspiration, check out these photos:

Heavy Metal Choker

The Lanvin Tribute store has been released earlier this week. At first, I thought I just don't wanna look at it because some of the tribute shops are just useless (like the Versus Tribute) in my opinion. But when I checked the Lanvin store, some of the pieces were actualy useful. My favorite one is the Heavy Metal Choker. It costs 10 stardollars, which is a bit expensive, but it is a tribute store so I bought it right away.
Here's the real life version:

Feet

Wow. Feet. Just what we always wanted. Feet on Stardoll, because spending money on finger nails was just not enough. It also has three lengths though not as impressive as finger nails. I wasn't in the mood to take a picture of all of them (you can check them by yourself and have a laugh), so please enjoy the current picture I bothered to present:

Dunno if same nail polish can be applied to both types of nails, I have no nail polish, I'm not SS, and even if I were, I'd leave my toe nails alone. Really. Next time Stardoll will allow us to choose number of hairs on out arms and type of bellybutton.
Those feet look funny, like cut from the rest of the body. Oh wait, legs are coming too.

Goth Types

Before I start I want to make clear that Gothic people are the reflection of darkness in the world so there are many kinds of individuals within the Gothic subculture. With this post I pretend to give a perspective of those different types, not to label or stereotype but showing off the different ways to define the gothic world. And it’s okay to feel related with a set of people with distinct behaviour and beliefs and to feel inspired by them.

Firstly, I think it's important to give you guys the definition of Goth. Although it is a very controversial definition, I guess it’s a matter of self opinion and view.

Most Goth people have:

1-A strong interest by the dark: Goths are interested in the dark side of life, just like dark art visions, Gothic literature or graveyards and creepy houses.

2-A predominance of black: And yes, there are exceptions, but most Goths do wear a large amount of black. Even the Cyber Goths (which incorporate a lot of bright colours in their outfits) like to match them with black.

3-An alternative lifestyle: Just like not entering the usual expected path in most societies.

4-A love for "dark" music: which means that Goths, whether they listen to Deathrock or Darkwave or Gothic Metal, all these kinds of music are considered "dark" for their lyrics or for the sound itself.

There are way too many different types of Gothic, so I chose 10 of the most interesting groups, in my opinion.

Cyber Goth

The “cybergoth” term might be used to describe their “dark future”. These characters worship futurism and technology, they adore bright colours and they listen to dance music. As you can see, they seem to be the opposite of a typical Goth so why are they still included in the Gothic world? It could be because their music (Electronic Body Music being one of their music choices) are commonly too depressing and too deep for other dance fans. It could be because their style derives from Goth elements.

You can usually find Cybergoths wearing crazy pony falls, goggles and futuristic rave-inspired clothing.

Deathrocker

These are considerate as the “missing link” between Goths and Punks. Deathrockers are huge music geeks and lovers of obscure bands and horror movies. They’re also known to have a very satirical sense of humour.

In style matters, they’re easily recognised by the abundant use of ripped fishnets, huge Mohawks and strong make-ups. Deathrock bands, (for example Anorexic Dread and The Last Day of Jesus) are their main music influences.

Gothabilly

Gothabilly is a rare breed of Goth with particular tastes in music and wardrobe.

Visually, they’re seen as “brighter Goths” with glammy make-ups, vivid tattoos, bats, skulls or cherry accessories, all combined with polka dot clothing.

Gothabilly bands have horror, monsters, ghosts, paranormal and vampires music themes. They’re also themes of sadness and aggressive behaviours. Some bands are Cult Of The Psychic Fetus or Vampire Beach Babes.

Mopey Goth

Mopey Goths represent the most common stereotype of our society, related with any people in the Gothic world. Our society tends to relate anyone dressed in black to depression and sadness which is, obviously, completely wrong. However, the Mopey Goths regard all those who actually take the whole “dark” aspect of Goth far too seriously. They’re depressed and angsty persons with anti social tendencies. Their music is anything sad and they’re also known by wearing full black.

Romantic Goth

The romantic Goths embrace the view that darkness and beauty are one in the same. They’re very sentimental, creative and dreamy persons with a love of literature and poetry. They find beauty in dead nature, skulls, the night and graveyards.

In their wardrobe you might find Victorian or Medieval inspired clothes with a lot of black and occasional deep red, purple and green.

Vampire Goth

There are Goths who set vampires as the centre of their worlds. This people have pale skin, they avoid the sunlight and they’re inspired by dark period clothing. They might love red wine and wear black capes and sunglasses when going out during the day. They’re obviously huge fans of Dracula movies and Anne Rice books and their chosen songs are about vampires.

Victorian Goth

Victorian Goths are classic individuals, very spiritual and not so aggressive like the other Goth types. Edgar Allan Poe may be a great passion of these Goths as well as theatres, masquerades, poetry and tea parties. Their musical preferences are Opera and Classical and Victorian-inspired bands. They can be recognized by their dark Victorian style with long lacy dresses, gloves, corsets, hats and canes.

Corp Goth

Goths grew up and started to work in big corporations. This branch is the result of the attempt of creating a certain style that could give them a real job while not totally sacrificing their dark and morbid fashion sense. Kinda like a balance between personal taste and “professional” look.

So how do they look like? They can be found wearing dark suits, velvet, spiders/crosses shaped jewellery, hats and a few more dark accessories. There are more and more people adopting this style for working.

Metalhead

Do Metalheads fit in the Gothic world? This is a very controversial question and I personally think that the answer depends on your definition of Goth.

There are 2 different opinions. Some Goths and Metalheads believe that both groups have different origins and musical tastes as well as in clothing choices. However, some individuals agree that both types have a lot of similarities just like the black clothing preferences and the love for dark things.

Metalheads can be identified by the Band t-shirts, long hair (specially on guys), black leather and studs and a pair of combat boots.

Trad goth

This is the original Goth, developed in the 70/80’s. They’re very found of certain Goth bands like Siouxsie And The Banshees, The Sisters of Mercy or Bauhaus. Their look was highly influenced by Punk, so you could find them wearing fishnet shirts, vinyl pants, funerary clothes, leather skirts and fishnet stockings all combined with heavy make-up and huge backcombed dark hair.

As certain branches, like Cyber Goth, are growing, Trads believe that Goth is dead. They’re seen by many as the most respectful type of Goth ever.

Do you guys have any favourite Goth type? Feel related with it? Give us your opinion!
